Welcome

"When I look into the eyes of an animal, I do not see an animal.  I see a living being.  I see a friend.  I feel a soul."

Happily working in Hideaway Studio

Kirstie Mutch is a self-taught artist based in Aberdeen, Scotland.

As a child, Kirstie loved to draw and continued to work on her abilities throughout secondary school. At 18, she made the decision to become a primary school teacher and specialised in working with pupils with learning difficulties and additional support needs. Her busy teaching career left little time for art!

In 2014, she re-connected with her passion for drawing, and began taking an interest in painting. By the end of 2018 she realised art was something she wanted to pursue as a career, combining it with her love of animals.

Having converted a garden shed into a studio, Kirstie Mutch Pet Portraits and Illustrations was born in 2019!

To date, her work has mainly focused on pet commissions, working predominantly in pen and ink, and with a growing portfolio of acrylic paintings. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Kirstie began working on human portraits as a challenge to herself, and received such positive feedback about her work, that she has now added this as an option to her business. Other commission based work varies and Kirstie is open to discussing ideas with potential clients.

Kirstie has also developed a range of prints which are available for purchase in the shop.
